The extreme amount of heavy, wet snow earlier this week caused issues with power, roadways, and sidewalks.POWER RESTORATION: FirstEnergy has worked around the clock to resolve the dozens of power outages in the city of Beachwood and neighboring communities. As of the afternoon of Thursday, December 3: their goal is to restore power to 90-95% of their customers by 11:00 PM tonight; they are flooding Beachwood Blvd/East Groveland/Greenlawn with employees and contractors and the current estimated power-restoration time is 10:00 PM; there is no update on the Sittingbourne transformer-issue repair at this time; the Duffield Road outage is due to a transformer issue; and outages at Commerce Park and Hilltop that impact a single address will take longer to rectify. Crews will update Estimated Time of Restoration in the field. The outage map is available online at http://outages.firstenergycorp.com/oh.html. You may call FirstEnergy at 1-888-544-4877 to report outages.STREET & SIDEWALK CLEARING: The Department of Public Works had all available snowplow vehicles out to clear the streets from Monday night through Wednesday morning. The streets are now clear and the snow-emergency parking ban has been removed. The heaviness of the extreme amount of wet snow has caused many tree branches to fall across Beachwood sidewalks, which is slowing the progress in clearing the sidewalks of snow.
