Beachwood Boredom-Busters: Comedy Club Edition (7/31/19)

Logo that says City of Beachwood Boredom-Busters, where Boredom is gray and busters is notDid you know there’s a Sales Tax Holiday this weekend? It begins this Friday, August 2 at 12:00 AM and ends on Sunday, August 4 at 11:59 PM

During the holiday, the following items are exempt from sales and use tax:

  • Clothing priced at $75 per item or less;
  • School supplies priced at $20 per item or less; and
  • School instructional material priced at $20 per item or less.

Prepare the kids for school and splash out on something nice for yourself at one of our many wonderful Beachwood retailers!

Beachwood has a comedy club! Check out Bogey’s Comedy Club at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Cleveland Beachwood on Wednesday and Saturday nights. Tonight’s show presents Jay Stevens featuring Greg Smrdel – you save $5 when you buy your tickets online. Their website has a calendar of upcoming performers; we could all use a good laugh!

Please note that the Safe at Home workshop at the Beachwood Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library has been postponed. The new date is Thursday, Aug. 22 at 7:00 PM.

11:00 AM – 2:00 PM: Eats & Meets Thursdays continue with food trucks from Bearden's and CLE Cookie Dough Company. Join the lunch-bunch fun behind the Orlean Company at 23875 Commerce Park #140. Presented by the Orlean Company and the Beachwood Chamber of Commerce.


SATURDAY, Aug. 3

Beachwood Place is getting into the spirit of the Sales Tax Holiday by presenting a Back-To-School Bash with Riele Downs, known for her role as Charlotte on the Nickelodeon television series "Henry Danger." Spend $250 or more to receive a special back-to-school bundle including a $25 gift card. Check their Facebook event for more info!

SUNDAY, Aug. 4

1:00 – 2:30 PM: Hobnob with the creatives while enjoying light refreshments at today’s Artist Reception for our current Art Gallery show, “Art in Nature.” This reception is free & open to the public at the Beachwood Community Center. The “Art in Nature” exhibition will feature painted rain barrels, photography, paintings and mixed media works by local artists. Proceeds from the painted rain barrel silent auction will benefit the Friends of Euclid Creek programming fund.


MONDAY, Aug. 5

TUESDAY, Aug. 6

NNO5:30 PM: Join us for the free NATIONAL NIGHT OUT event with Beachwood Police. Kids and families are welcome to hang out with BPD while decorating bikes, meeting the Beachwood K-9 units, riding the agility course (bring bikes & helmets!), watching ZOOTOPIA (6:30 PM) outside and more! Bring money for food-truck dinner & dessert. The event will be at the Family Aquatic Center parking lot – please park at the Beachwood Board of Education building or at City Hall and mosey over from there. Activities are free & open to the public! Thanks to Cleveland.com for providing an overview of the event.


WEDNESDAY, Aug. 7

10:00 AM – 3:00 PM: Buy good food at the Farmers Market at the Cleveland Clinic Administrative Campus in the Parking Lot Behind Building 1 at 25875 Science Park Drive, Beachwood. Look for signs at the entrances that say Cleveland Clinic Administrative Campus Building #1. Fill up on organic produce, selected meats, and more: bring the kids and get ideas for what to pack in their lunch bags this year! This Farmers Market is held every Wednesday. Cash & credit cards accepted.

7:00 – 9:00 PM: MOON PARTY at the Beachwood Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library. Join us as members of the Cuyahoga Astronomical Association bring their telescopes for viewing the moon and stars. Register online today

7:45 AM – 9:00 AM: Beachwood Women’s Connection – this Beachwood Chamber of Commerce networking event promotes Women Empowering Women. Register now for “Talking about Women and Their Money: A Panel Discussion” – free for members & non-members alike!

Tuesday, Aug. 13: Register now! Menorah Park will hold a free Tuesday six-part series, “The Savvy Caregiver,” from 2 to 4 PM starting Aug. 13 at Menorah Park’s Center 4 Brain Health, 27100 Cedar Road in Beachwood. The workshop will provide information for those caring for a family member with dementia or other serious memory problems. While caregivers attend the series, the family member they care for will have the opportunity to participate in a separate group activity.
