Beachwood Boredom-Busters: Top-Dog Contest Edition (8/14/19)

Today (8/14) begins the BFAC End-of-Season schedule:
August 14 through September 2: Closed Monday through Wednesday these weeks.

Open Thursday & Friday
Lap Swim Only: 6:15 to 8:30 AM
Open Swim: 4:00 to 8:00 PM

Open Saturday & Sunday
Lap Swim Only: 9:00 to 10:45 AM
Open Swim: 11:30 to 7:30 PM


THURSDAY, Aug. 15

Did you know that once a month, our Community Services Department hosts a Seniors Day Out luncheon? We're looking forward to welcoming all participants at today’s luncheon: the topic is “The Underground Railroad.”

11:00 AM – 2:00 PM: Our Thursday Eats & Meets food trucks at the back of the Orlean Company building will be Betty’s Bomb Ass Burgers and Catering (Update: only on site until 1:00) and the CLE Cookie Dough Co. (onsite until 2:00). Join us for #StretchyPantsDay! Presented by the Beachwood Chamber of Commerce.

5:30 – 8:00 PM: Ignite the Night at Lifetime Fitness tonight and dance until your legs give out! Members and non-members (age 18 and older) are welcome but you’ll need to make a reservation either way!


FRIDAY, Aug. 16

2:00 – 7:00 PM: Give blood, give life at the American Red Cross blood drive at the Beachwood Community Center between 2:00 and 7:00 PM. Thanks!

THIS WEEKEND: Put your feet up and check out the new City of Beachwood Recreation Guide (PDF) – sign up for a workshop and class and meet your neighbors while learning something new.


SATURDAY, Aug. 17

10:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Drop In & Download at the Beachwood Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library. Learn how to borrow free eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, movies and music from their Digital Collection: anytime, anywhere! Bring your device and passwords to the Library and they will get you started. The Digital Collection is available 24/7 365 days a year and there are never any late fees!


SUNDAY, Aug. 18

Noon - 5:00 PM: Get a haircut for a good cause at Aveda Beachwood Place. Your $25 donation gets you an amazing dry haircut from our Aveda Stylist from John Robert's Salon and Spa and will support Haircuts for Clean Water. Call ahead to book your spot: 216-292-2777

BEFORE MIDNIGHT: Be sure to enter your dog in the Beachwood People’s Choice Top Dog ContestVisit our Facebook “Notes” page for info on how to enter. Voting runs until noon on Friday, Sept. 13.


TUESDAY, Aug. 20

6:30 – 8:30 PM: Join JFSA’s Strengthening Families department at a 2-hour workshop to promote awareness and education about domestic violence in our community and our roles as caring friends, family members, and bystanders. This workshop is held at the Beachwood Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library and is free of charge, but reservations are requested.
