We're off to see the wizard!
Just like Dorothy and her friends, theater enthusiasts ages 7-17 can embark on a journey to develop their performance technique, improve audition skills, and build confidence that extends beyond the stage with Beachwood Community Theater’s upcoming production, Wizard of Oz Jr.! Along the way, the all youth cast will find their courage, heart, and brains while having loads of fun with Casting Director Julie Matthews and Musical Director Debi Lewin of Marquee Showcase Productions.
“We’ve held a variety of youth showcases over recent years and we felt this fall offered an ideal opportunity to shine a spotlight on a full youth production,” discussed Julie Matthews. “The Wizard of Oz Jr. is a classic favorite and offers a wide-range of fun, entertaining roles where our young actors and actresses can develop their on-stage skills.”
All participants in the youth production, open to residents and non-residents, are guaranteed a spot in the show. Auditions will be held to assign roles. Rehearsals will take place over seven weeks, from September 25 through November 6, on Wednesdays from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beachwood Community Center, 25325 Fairmount Blvd. Additional rehearsals may be required based on the performer’s role.
Performances will be open to friends, family, and the general public on November 9 and November 10 at the Beachwood Middle School. Show times and additional info coming this fall.
Wizard of Oz Jr. registration is currently available at BeachwoodRec.com or by calling Beachwood Community Services at 216-292-1970. The production fee is $300 for residents and $360 for non-residents.
