BEACHWOOD, OH— Beachwood City Council on Dec. 5 unanimously appointed Hope Jones to the position of Law Director, a position she had been serving in on an interim basis since May, 2016.
Jones has served the City since July of 2014 as Beachwood’s Assistant Law Director. She brings more than 25 years of experience in all facets of municipal law. Prior to her role with Beachwood, she worked her way up the ranks with the City of Cuyahoga Falls serving as city prosecutor, assistant law director and ultimately as deputy law director for more than 14 years.
“Hope has proved time and again she is a valuable asset to the City,” said Councilman James Pasch, who chairs council’s Legal and Personnel Committee. “We are confident she will dutifully serve the Beachwood community and we are glad to officially welcome her to the role of Law Director.”
Jones’ broad experience includes successfully defending the City of Cuyahoga Falls in Injunction Proceedings as well as arguing a case before the Ohio Supreme Court. Jones was also responsible for drafting and assisting in the implementation of Ohio’s first Clandestine Drug Lab Clean Up ordinance. She is a graduate of Ohio University and the University of Akron School Of Law.
At the same Dec. 5 City Council meeting where Jones was appointed, Council also appointed Whitney Crook as Clerk of Council. Crook served as Assistant Clerk of Council/Legal Assistant since July of 2015. She brings nearly a decade of experience as a paralegal and legal assistant. Crook is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where she served in the Boatswain’s Mate Rate as well as a paralegal for the JAG Corps.
