Beachwood resident Ali Amini immigrated to the United States when he was 12 years old and credits the “amazing support of family and friends” that allowed him to prosper. Now, he’s paying it forward by hosting a donation drive with the City of Beachwood, to benefit the people immigrating to Cleveland from Afghanistan.

August 18, 2021: Beachwood Announces Top Rankings of all Cuyahoga County Municipalities for Vaccine Starts, Population Growth (PDF)
Today, Mayor Martin S. Horwitz announced that the City of Beachwood has earned number-one rankings of all Cuyahoga County municipalities for vaccination starts against COVID-19 and also for population gains in the 2020 Census.

Today, Mayor Martin S. Horwitz announced the hiring of Katherine M. “Kate” Dolan as deputy chief of police for the City of Beachwood.

July 26, 2021: City of Beachwood and Mandel JCC Present Outdoor Cleveland Pops Concert for Residents and Members (PDF)
The City of Beachwood has partnered with the Mandel Jewish Community Center to co-present “Sounds of Magic: Disney© and Beyond,” a family-friendly outdoor concert on the park-like grounds of the Mandel JCC on Sunday, Aug. 15.

May 27, 2021: Beachwood Removes City Mask Mandate Effective June 2, 2021 (PDF)
Council has voted to no longer require face coverings “in indoor areas accessible to the public and outdoor areas of public gathering” as of June 2, 2021.

Pending a vote by City Council on Monday, May 10 at 6:00 PM, the City of Beachwood announced today the hiring of L. Stewart Hastings, Jr. as its new Law Director.

March 1, 2021: BEACHWOOD DELIVERS: Fee-Free Restaurant Delivery to Beachwood Addresses EXTENDED through March (PDF)
The City of Beachwood’s investment in BEACHWOOD DELIVERS —a fee-free service where City-contracted drivers deliver Beachwood-restaurant orders to Beachwood addresses— as of last week resulted in nearly $56,000 of restaurant deliveries, with an estimated savings of $17,000 for participating restaurants against the typical 30-percent charged by third-party delivery apps.

January 25, 2021: City of Beachwood Providing ‘COVID Care Package’ to Residents in Need of Health, Sanitizing Supplies (PDF)
With the knowledge that for some of its residents, household budgets are stretched taut, the City of Beachwood is offering a free “COVID Care Package” to residents that otherwise could not afford a grocery bag of the additional health and cleaning supplies necessary to combat COVID-19.

January 20, 2021: BEACHWOOD DELIVERS: Fee-Free Beachwood Restaurant Delivery to Beachwood Addresses EXTENDED through February (PDF)
The City of Beachwood’s $10,000 investment in BEACHWOOD DELIVERS —a fee-free service where City-contracted drivers deliver Beachwood-restaurant orders to Beachwood addresses— created more than $15,000 of value within its first 18 days of service.

Concerned about the viability of our local restaurants during the pandemic, especially when delivery-service apps can gobble 30% or more of the ticket price, the City of Beachwood announces BEACHWOOD DELIVERS: a city-run, NO-FEE delivery program for restaurants and residents.

October 21, 2020: Beachwood Expands CRA to City’s Entire Commercial Area (PDF)
Beachwood City Council voted this week to expand the city’s Community Reinvestment Area to include “basically all of our remaining commercial property,” said Mayor Martin Horwitz.

Today, Mayor Martin S. Horwitz announced the hiring of Kelly J. Stillman as police chief for the City of Beachwood.

July 6, 2020: City of Beachwood Requires Facial Coverings in Public Indoor Areas (PDF)
To help limit the spread of the coronavirus, tonight the Council of the City of Beachwood voted to mandate the wearing of facial coverings (face masks) in Beachwood-based indoor areas accessible to the public. 

June 2, 2020: City of Beachwood Provides Residents with Free Cloth Masks (PDF)
People can do four things to prevent the spread of coronavirus: thoroughly wash hands, practice social distancing, get tested for COVID-19, and wear a face mask. To help limit the spread of the virus, the City of Beachwood has purchased 10,000 fabric masks to be offered free-of-charge to its residents.

The City of Beachwood and Beachwood 100, Inc. are partnering to support first responders and their families with a show of flags. Interested individuals or businesses can participate in Flags for First Responders at Beachwood100.org.

April 6, 2020: Beachwood Mayor Announces Call-In Office Hours, Surgical-Mask Donation from City Families (PDF)
Beachwood Mayor Martin S. Horwitz announced today that he will host a twice-weekly “Office Hours” conference call on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:00 PM for residents with questions about the impact of COVID-19 on the City of Beachwood. He also announced that a consortium of 10 Chinese families living in Beachwood has donated nearly 2,000 surgical face masks for Beachwood’s first responders and high-risk residents.

March 19, 2020: Beachwood City Hall Closed to Public, State of Emergency Declared in City of Beachwood (PDF)
Beachwood City Hall is closed to the public as of Thursday, March 19, 2020. This week, Mayor Martin S. Horwitz signed a Declaration of a State of Emergency in Beachwood, which provides him with extended authority to handle health, safety, staffing and certain financial issues during the COVID-19 crisis.

March 10, 2020: Beachwood Community Center Suspends Public Programming Through 03/19/2020 (PDF)
The City of Beachwood will suspend all public programming at the Beachwood Community Center beginning Wednesday, March 11 through end-of-day on Thursday, March 19. The Beachwood Arts Council concert scheduled at the Beachwood Community Center on Sunday, March 22 is cancelled. 03/19/2020 UPDATE: The Beachwood Community Center is closed to the public through May 22, 2020.
