The purpose of the Civil Service Commission shall be to prepare and administer tests and develop rules and procedures for hiring and promoting Civil Service employees in the Police and Fire divisions.

Membership & Terms
Membership of the Civil Service Commission consists of three residents of the city not holding any other city office to be appointed by the Mayor. The Resident Members of the Commission shall serve staggered terms of six years, with one member’s term expiring every two years.
