Beachwood Pickleball Courts
The City of Beachwood opened six dedicated pickleball courts on October 4, 2023. The pickleball courts are located at 25125 Fairmount Blvd. and can be accessed by walking through the tennis court entrance. View video from the grand opening on YouTube.
Organized open play, lessons, clinics, and leagues are offered. See the current schedule above via Your Courts. The Beachwood Pickleball Courts can be reserved by the City of Beachwood (Open Play, Lessons, Leagues) and Beachwood residents only. The remaining courts are available on a first come, first serve basis.
No dogs allowed in the tennis/pickleball complex.

Court Reservations for Residents
Beachwood residents have the exclusive benefit to reserve pickleball courts at no cost following verification of residency at Beachwood City Hall. To receive your reservation credentials (username and password) to the new Your Courts platform/app, please present proof of residency (driver’s license AND utility bill) in-person at the City Hall front desk. Residents can reserve a court for up to 90 minutes at no charge. Courts may be reserved up to 4 days in advance but not less than 2 hours prior to the reservation for a same day booking. One reservation per day and a maximum of 3 weekly reservations per household. Players that do not abide by the rules above may be restricted from reserving the courts.
Residents will receive an email confirmation after successfully reserving a court. If someone is playing on the court you reserved, please politely show them the email confirmation that you received. If you booked a court reservation and are unable to use it, please log into your account and delete the reservation.
Your Courts is available via YourCourts.com or a mobile app that can be downloaded at no cost from the Apple or Android store.
Adult Pickleball Lessons with Bill Tennant - Spring/Summer 2026
Pickleball is an invigorating hybrid paddle sport of table tennis and tennis on the size of a badminton court. It is fun for all ages and exceptionally “social” in nature! These exciting lessons are taught by a professional Pickleball Coach, Bill Tennant, AKA Pickle-BILL. Bill holds a Master’s in Education along with the PPR Certified Professional designation and has worked with thousands of players from age 7 to 93 across multiple states!
All sessions will run rain or shine and all equipment will be provided. Classes are limited to an 10:1 student to teacher ratio for quality instructional time and 8:1 for Pickle 301 and beyond. Selecting the right skill level is key to your success and the experience of fellow participants. Please review the detailed class descriptions and prerequisites carefully. Pickle 101 - Introduction
An intro to pickleball. No previous experience necessary. If you have taken a workshop/clinic, and have started playing but not been playing frequently, this class works well for you. Although all equipment will be supplied, it is asked after the first class to do your best in obtaining your own paddle. Our pro “Pickleball Bill” will help provide suggestions / recommendations. You will learn and introduction to basic fundamentals including the grip, stance, footwork, basic dinking, how to serve and return, etc.

Pickle 102 - Beginner Plus
Designed for ANY students who have already taken the Pickle-Bill’s Level 101 and 101+ and have a minimum of 6 months in frequent recreation play 2x+/week. This class will only give a small recap from 101+ and will then start to focus more on playing the game while working on the 3rd and 5th shots to successfully transition to the NVZ line. It is also meant to build confidence in the basics, and by the end of this level, participants will have now learned some basic court positioning and hitting strategies, completed footwork drills, along with the concepts of “firefighting” and how to come out on top!
Prerequisites:
- Taken a combo (Pickle 101/101+ series of classes) based on student’s needs.
- Have been playing 6+ months of rec. play at least 2x/week.
- Consistently serve and return 80% or more in play and can keep accurate score.
- Are fully comfortable on both backhand and forehand shots from anywhere on the court.
- Mastered Pickle-Bill’s first four basic solo drills on the forehand and backhand, with 100 consistent repetitions in each of the four drills.

Pickle 201 - Novice
Designed for players who have been playing consistently for a good 9+ months and have a developed backhand and forehand from anywhere on the court. This player already understand the rules and can keep accurate scoring. We will work on fundamentals of proper technique and technical parameters for developing a strong forehand, backhand, volley (hitting out of the air), developing footwork, effective blocking and absorption drills; hitting consistent serves, returns, 3rd shot drops, drives, and learning the “dink” game and how to maintain rallies and stay in the point.
Prerequisites:
- Pickle 102 prerequisites plus those listed below.
- Have played consistently for over 1 year, understand the rules, and can keep accurate score.
- Can move around the court in a balanced, safe manner with PROPER and consistent footwork (shuffling/hops/lunging/etc)
- Can serve off a bounce or toss and gets 90% (or close to) in.
- Can maintain a rally consistently of 10+ touches.
- Consistently employs the concept of tethering in his/her game for court coverage.
- Very comfortable with both the backhand and forehand groundstrokes from the baseline and can return serves 75% of the time in play using either backhand or forehand.

Pickle 202 - Early Intermediate
Designed for players who are not yet playing “TOURNAMENTS or COMPETITIVE SHOOTOUTS” but have completed at least one Pickle 201 Class and are ready to dive deeper. This level may have been playing in organized competitive leagues for 6+months. Skill Level of 3.0-3.5.
Prerequisites:
- Pickle 201 prerequisites plus those listed below.
- Can “diffuse and counter” the “banger-style player” with varied counterattacking strategies and ball placement
- Can move around the court in a balanced, safe manner with PROPER and consistent footwork (shuffling/hops/lunging/etc)
- Can serve off a bounce or toss and gets 90% (or close to) in.
- Can maintain a rally consistently of 15+ touches.
- Tethering, NVZ speedups, transitioning to NVZ, and Respecting the “x” are CONSISTENT.
- Very comfortable with both the backhand and forehand groundstrokes from the baseline and can return serves 90% of the time in play using either backhand or forehand, consistently controls the LOCATION/PLACEMENT within about 3 feet.
- Strong Attacking and Counterattacking, Reset Volley, Strong in NML Defense, and can consistently hit 50+ dinking shot patterns consecutively without 1 error (Grinder)

Pickle 301 - Intermediate
Designed for the 3.5-4.0 Skill Rated Player: These players play frequently (at least 2x/week) and are looking for improvement and a deeper dive into this sport and have been playing for at least a solid 2years+ and employs basic shading concepts during play. We will discuss gameplay strategies and introduce specific shots and their proper defense/prevention, such as the “ATP, Ernie, and Lob” among others. We will review fundamentals and proper technique for forehands, backhands, volleys, blocking and absorption, serving, return of serve, and 3rd/5th shot drop/drives/resets, etc. We will also introduce a few different styles of dinking in an effort to improve your touch game!
Prerequisites:
- Pickle 202 prerequisites plus those listed below.
- Consistently serving and returning 90% plus in and consistently RUNS to the NVZ line immediately upon the return of serve w/o hesitation.
- Can maintain a rally consistently of 25+ touches.
- Can demonstrate 2 different effective serves at 90% or higher.
- Is able to comfortably navigate through the transition zone with fluidity left and right and forward and backward as needed to be able to stay in the rally.
- SHADING: Understands and employs CONSISTENTLY.
- Learning how to employ spin and counter-spin and knowing when to and NOT TO use it!

Pickle 401 - Advanced
Designed for 4.0+ Advanced Skill Rated Players who play frequently (at least 2x/week) and are looking for improvement and a deeper dive into this sport and have been playing for at least a solid 2years+. We will discuss gameplay strategies and introduce specific shots such as the scorpion, tomahawk, Ernie, Bert, Shake and Bakes, ATP: ATP-D, Advanced Swinging Volleys, Stacking Strategies and Counters, and their proper defense/prevention.
Prerequisites:
- Pickle 301 prerequisites plus those listed below.
- Can CONSISTENTLY place (most) balls within a 2-foot circle FROM anywhere to anywhere on the court.
- STAMINA: These players can typically play hard for at least 2-3 hours at a time.
- SPEED: These players usually have the ability to play full court singles and have experience.
- POWER: These players can hit VERY HARD with ACCURACY while adding SPIN/COUNTER.

Organized Open Play - Returning May 4, 2026
Organized Open Play (OOP) is inclusive pickleball play where everyone, residents and non-residents, are invited to join into the activity of that day. No reservations or signups are required; simply show up and play. During Organized Open Play hours, the group will use all available courts. An Organized Open Play Monitor will help keep play moving and make sure the appropriate rotation takes place. Reservations during OOP is prohibited.

Paddle Up Pickleball Leagues - 2026 Season
Paddle Up Pickleball Leagues offer fun and competitive play for pickleball enthusiasts at the beginner and intermediate skill levels. Our leagues provide a great way to stay active, improve your game, and connect with fellow players. Join us for exciting matches, friendly competition, and a vibrant pickleball community! Sessions include a 6-week regular season (minimum 2 matches per week) and playoffs. Rain dates used as needed, the session may be extended by a maximum of one week.

The Beachwood Historical Society Annual Pickleball Tournament
This doubles tournament will feature Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed divisions, offering players of all skill levels the opportunity to compete and connect. Grab your partner, bring your game face, and enjoy an energetic atmosphere filled with community spirit and good sportsmanship. In the event of inclement weather, the rain date is July 12.
